Job Description

Senior Occupational Therapist – Moving & Handling Team
Location: Sandwell
Hours: Full time (36.5 hours per week)
Pay Rate: £28.40 per hour
Contract: Ongoing

Pertemps is seeking an experienced Senior Occupational Therapist to join a newly created Moving and Handling Team in Sandwell. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking service where the value of Occupational Therapy is recognised and embedded across both health and social care partners.

The service has ambitious plans to implement a “Moving with Dignity” approach, with a strong emphasis on enabling independence, wellbeing, and person-centred practice.

The Role Many people living with long-term conditions rely on support from health and social care services. Traditional moving and handling practices can sometimes limit choice and dignity. In this role, you will play a key part in challenging this, ensuring that moving and handling solutions promote independence while remaining safe and compliant with legislation.

You will:
  • Carry out proportionate, strengths-based assessments for individuals with complex needs
  • Determine whether specialist equipment and contemporary moving and handling techniques can safely reduce carer handling
  • Recommend and implement appropriate specialist equipment and adaptations
  • Work collaboratively with service users, carers, and multi-disciplinary professionals
  • Support the development and embedding of best practice across partners
Essential Requirements
  • Degree (or equivalent) in Occupational Therapy
  • Current HCPC registration
  • Experience and a strong interest in moving and handling of people
  • Proven experience completing complex assessments and making equipment and adaptation recommendations
  • Sound knowledge of health and social care legislation and its application to practice
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective professional relationships
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • Full UK driving licence and ability to travel across the borough
(reasonable adjustments will be considered for applicants with a disability)

Why work through Pertemps?

  • A dedicated consultant with access to roles nationwide and available whenever you need support
  • A simple online registration process
  • Attractive referral schemes and incentives
  • Ongoing compliance fully managed for you
