Permanent Vacancy – Team Manager (Children’s Services) Sutton Salary: £49,056 – £57,402 Hybrid Working – Minimum 3 Days in the Office
We are seeking an experienced Team Manager to join the Children Looked After and Leaving Care Service in Sutton. This is a key leadership role overseeing corporate parenting responsibilities from care proceedings through to CLA and Leaving Care. Golden Hello & Recruitment/Retention Bonus Team Managers in this service are eligible for the following:
£1,000 paid in your first month’s salary
£1,000 paid after your first completed year
£2,000 paid after your second completed year
£3,000 paid after your third completed year and annually thereafter
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage a multidisciplinary team to deliver effective corporate parenting for children looked after and those leaving care.
Ensure all interventions are child-centred, prioritising the best interests of children and young people.
Oversee assessment, planning and review processes for CLA.
Ensure adherence to statutory requirements, policies and professional standards.
Promote a positive, inclusive team culture that supports development and continuous improvement.
Oversee care proceedings, care planning, quality assurance and direct work carried out by the team.
Chair meetings and work collaboratively with multi-agency professionals to safeguard children and young people.
Contribute to high-quality care plans informed by children, families, carers, and partner agencies.
This role offers excellent development opportunities in a dynamic and diverse children’s service environment, ideal for existing Team Managers or experienced Senior Social Workers ready for progression. Candidate Requirements
Registered with Social Work England, holding a degree in Social Work or equivalent.
Experience working with children within a care or safeguarding environment.
Proven experience leading and managing a multidisciplinary team.
Strong knowledge of social work practice, assessment, and statutory responsibilities.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex social issues to families and professionals.
Ability to plan and coordinate care plans and manage complex cases with high emotional sensitivity.
