An innovative engineering consultancy specialising in environmental consulting, energy efficiency, and sustainable building services is seeking a BIM / Revit Technician to join their expanding design team in Birmingham. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on projects that integrate mechanical, electrical, and building services systems while contributing to sustainable, low-carbon design solutions.
As a BIM / Revit Technician, you’ll be pivotal in creating, maintaining, and coordinating accurate 3D models and 2D documentation, supporting design quality, collaboration, and sustainability goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain 3D Revit models for MEP, building services, and energy systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project requirements
  • Produce 2D plans, sections, and elevations directly from Revit models
  • Perform clash detection and resolve issues across disciplines, coordinating with architects, structural engineers, and MEP teams
  • Ensure all models and drawings comply with BIM/CAD standards, templates, naming conventions, and workflows
  • Support sustainable design objectives by incorporating energy efficiency, low-carbon, and environmental considerations into models
  • Maintain and create Revit families and parametric systems as required
  • Work within a Common Data Environment (CDE), managing version control and data integrity
  • Conduct model audits, clean-ups, and quality assurance checks
  • Liaise with engineers, designers, and contractors to coordinate model inputs and resolve technical issues
  • Advise on BIM best practices and contribute to internal protocols, standards, or training

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proficient in Autodesk Revit with strong modelling skills; MEP / building services or energy systems experience is highly desirable
  • Experienced in producing accurate 2D documentation from Revit models
  • Familiarity with BIM workflows, CDE, and version control
  • Understanding of building services engineering or willingness to learn
  • Experience with clash detection tools (e.g., Navisworks) is a plus
  • Ability to create/adapt Revit families and system/project parameters
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standards
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to coordinate across multiple disciplines
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise tasks to meet deadlines

Desirable / Nice-to-Have

  • Knowledge of BIM standards such as ISO 19650
  • Experience in sustainable / environmental engineering, energy modelling, or low-carbon design
  • Familiarity with Dynamo or Revit scripting for automation
  • Experience in small or micro consultancies where flexibility and ownership of BIM practices are valued
